The majestic Dhauladhar mountains A prosthodontist by profession, travel and photography have been Swati Uppal’s passions. Early during this summer, she embarked on a tour to Mcleodganj, Andretta and Darang; the triangle she labels MAD. Swati shares cherished moments from her journey into the hills of Himachal Pradesh.
Pleasant journey Mcleodganj: Starting our journey from Mohali, Mcleodganj was a leisurely drive of about six hours. Stopping over at various roadside dhabas for some tea, we headed straight to Hotel Bhagsu, a Himachal Tourism property with a beautiful view and ample parking for its guests. After lunch and a little rest we headed out to the famous Temple Road. Other than the shopping extravaganza what is noteworthy around here is the Tibetan Monastery, Jogiwada Road, Bhagsu Falls, Triund and of course the mouth-watering food.
Peaceful break Darang: An hour’s drive from Mcleodganj brings you to the Mecca for tea lovers, the Darang tea estate - a family owned and run homestay. The stone paved paths take you to various cottages scattered over acres of virgin land. The estate offers a sense of tranquillity, which is a welcome break from the monotonous city life.
Cultural calling Andretta: Sitting way up in the Himachal hills is the quiet yet vibrant village of Andretta, which is famous for its rich cultural heritage. It houses the famous Sobha Singh Art Gallery, which has been built in memory of the revered artist who gave us the face of Guru Nanak DevJi. One can also try one’s hand at Andretta Pottery for a nominal charge. — As told to Mona: To share details of your latest vacation, email to lifestyletribune@gmail.com or write to Chill Out, Life+Style, The Tribune, Sector 29, Chandigarh, along with a contact number and pictures, Source: http://www.tribuneindia.com/
